UAF Grading Scale & Quality Points System

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) uses a 4.00 grading scale for evaluating student performance in all degree programmes, mostly like other universities’ grading systems in Pakistan, including BS, MS, and PhD across departments such as Agriculture, Sciences, Engineering, and Veterinary. This uaf grade scale complies with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan guidelines for the uniform semester examination policy in higher education institutions.

UAF GPA Scale (4.00 System)

UAF employs an absolute grading system on a 4.00 scale. Grade points are assigned based on percentage marks obtained in each course. Quality points for a course are calculated as grade point multiplied by credit hours. Semester GPA is total quality points divided by total credit hours in the semester. Cumulative GPA (CGPA) is total quality points across all completed semesters divided by total credit hours across all semesters.

UAF Grading System

Here are the uaf quality point table:

University 4-Point Scale

Grade Scale US Grade
A80.000 - 100.000A+
B65.000 - 79.990A
C50.000 - 64.990B
D40.000 - 49.990C
F0.000 - 39.990F

Calculation Formula:

Quality Points = Grade Point × Credit Hours
GPA/CGPA = Total Quality Points ÷ Total Credit Hours

Percentage to GPA Conversion

Percentage marks in a course are converted to grade points using the table above. For overall percentage equivalent from CGPA, multiply CGPA by 25 (approximate conversion under HEC-aligned systems, e.g., CGPA 3.00 ≈ 75%). Use manual calculation or tools aligned with UAF specifications for accuracy.

Illustration of credit hour weight: core courses (3-4 credits) have much greater influence on GPA compared to electives (1-2 credits) on an academic balance scale

Credit Hour Importance

Credit hours represent the weight of each course in GPA/CGPA calculation. Courses with higher credit hours (e.g., 3-4 hours for core subjects) contribute more quality points than lower-credit courses (e.g., 1-2 hours for electives). Total credit hours completed determine degree progression and eligibility requirements.

Academic Probation Rules

Students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.00 for good standing. A semester GPA or CGPA below 2.00 places the student on academic probation. Continued performance below 2.00 may lead to restrictions on course load or further academic actions as per UAF regulations.
